				<title>Review - G.I. Joe Season 1.1 DVD Set</title>
				<link>http://www.lsdigitaldesign.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/7/17/Review--GI-Joe-Season-11-DVD-Set</link>

				I&apos;m just now getting around to reviewing this after having it for a couple of days. Last night, I finally got to watch a few episodes including &quot;Countdown for Zartan&quot; and &quot;Rockets Red Glare&quot;--both awesome episodes.

First off, let me say the price was unbeatable. 4 DVD&apos;s for only $16 at Target--I consider that a steal. Now, on to the review!

Just like the original cartoon, the episodes are full-frame, which is fine, but I was a little disappointed in the quality. There are still a lot of scratches and it appears little to nothing was done to clean up the masters. In one episode, I even saw a frame for &quot;Insert Commercial Here&quot; for about a second. Not the cleanest job in the world.

The &quot;bonus&quot; material is skinny in my opinion. The original PSA&apos;s are ok but the toy commercials are poor quality and the children&apos;s faces are blurred out. I guess that was a legal cya, but it looks tacky. There were only about three or four commercials included as well. The original 1963 Toy Fair video looks like it was taken from a VHS tape with crappy tracking...I watched about half of it. Also included is a printable script for &quot;Jungle Trap&quot;. Printable script? What is that all about? I know Shout! Factory wanted to include all the other bonus material in the huge 17 disc box set, but whatever. I&apos;m still not complaining, though. It&apos;s all good, nostalgic stuff.

The packaging is nice and sticks to the 80&apos;s cartoon look and feel. I have the &quot;original&quot; Rhino box (2 DVD) set from back in the day. It was also a cool collection as it came with a 3 3/4&quot; Snake Eyes figure (which is now safely stored with my collection). I thought the packaging for the Rhino set was awesome, as it had a nice die-cut front and cool fold-out. This set isn&apos;t that elaborate, but still looks good and its slim profile is easier on the DVD storage space as opposed to the 2 1/2&quot; thick Rhino set. Still, the included booklet and rub-on tattoos are a nice touch! I love that they kept the original G.I. Joe logo with the &quot;A Real American Hero&quot; trademark. Awesome!!

By far a must-have for any Joe fan&apos;s DVD collection.

				<title>Yo Joe!!!</title>

				<description>

				Ok, so I was wearing my Cobra T-shirt to work on Friday, and a co-worker informed me that the live-action movie was due out next summer. Live action? WHAT???? All right, so this HUGE G.I. Joe fan has been living under a rock since he found out he was going to be a dad. I honestly had NO IDEA they were working on this movie since last year. The last I read, they couldn&apos;t even secure the rights to the name &quot;G.I. Joe&quot; due to some legal battle or some crap. I&apos;d pretty much given up hope on ever seeing my favorite childhood toy line brought to life in a live-action movie.

But, to my surprise and sheer and utter joy, Hollywood is making it happen. I&apos;ve seen several legit entertainment sites, such as &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.accesshollywood.com/gallery/1338/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;Access Hollywood&lt;/a&gt; with production photos of cast members. The movie will be titled &quot;G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra&quot; and is due out August of 2009.

From the looks of things, it appears they are matching the newer style of the recent Devil&apos;s Due comics, as opposed to the old Marvel line. Which is very cool. I really like the Devil&apos;s Due books. Some of the casting choices are questionable, but I was impressed with Transformers, so we&apos;ll just have to wait and see. I do have to say that Ray Park (Darth Maul in SW: Episode I) is absolutely PERFECT for Snake Eyes, and Dennis Quaid as General Hawk will be sweet! I just hope and pray this doesn&apos;t become a cheeseball adaptation like some of the X-Men movies. Over-stylization can really ruin a flick. That&apos;s why I liked Transformers--they didn&apos;t go over the top.
