Photography Slump

I hope everyone is doing well so far this summer. It's hard to believe it's almost June. Where has the time gone? I've been so busy with work and school I've watched time fly right past me. As a result of all that, I've also found myself not taking nearly as many digital photos as usual. So, I've decided to poll some folks and request your suggestions for some things I should capture on "digital film" (or, better known as my memory card). Please help me out with some suggestions of what you think would be some good subjects for photography this summer. They can be anything--people, places, things, etc. Should I try the lake? Should I get more flowers pics? How about the dogs enjoying summer in the back yard? Please! I need your help!

Don't forget you can see all my photos on Flickr.

New Digital Creativity

There is a new (which is actually not-so-new) craze in the world of digital photography. It is called the panograph, or panography. No, not "pornography!" Panography is the method of taking multiple shots of a scene and stitching them together as the eye would see a a scene in real life. Usually, a more creative touch is added, though, as the images are overlayed on each other by overlapping the edges. The end results are amazing. I have seen one photographer in particular in a magazine who did multiple (hundreds) of shots of trees from top to bottom--something which could never be captured by a single shot. The end results are dreamy visions, almost surreal images.

I stumbled across an excellent tutorial on how to make one in Photoshop here. I am going to try to make one myself when I get some time. I have some good panoramics from the Smokies I'd like to piece together.

In the meantime, check out the Flickr pool dedicated to panography here.

First G5 Tests

Paul and Tonja so graciously gave us their Canon Powershot G5--a great camera. I started messing with exposure controls and indoor shooting. I am just getting used to the features and capabilities it has. You can trust that I'll be using this thing a lot. I just ordered a new battery and am looking for some wide angle and telephoto lenses for it. Thanks, guys!
